Decrypting Microsoft Dynamics GP eConnect Stored Procedures
On a recent project, I had to decrypt an eConnect stored procedure – something you typically never have to do when using eConnect. eConnect provides both Pre and Post procedures for modifying business logic before passing a transaction through eConnect to Microsoft Dynamics GP (I advise against modifying any Dynamics GP stored procedures as it may cause problems down the road with upgrades). In my case, I was working on an integration using SmartConnect to insert a payables transaction into Dynamics GP. (If you haven’t used SmartConnect before, it’s a terrific tool for creating quick integrations to GP from other sources including flat files, SQL, CRM etc.; but that’s a blog for another day.) Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Upgraded to 2013: Where Are My Related Activities?
If you’ve recently upgraded to CRM 2013 and haven’t merged your existing forms with the new forms, you might be wondering how to create activities with the ‘Regarding’ field already populated with your Accounts, Contacts, Leads, etc. In CRM 2013 it is easy to find the Quick Create button at the top of the form and by clicking it you can quickly create Tasks, Calls, Emails, etc. However, when the form opens you will have to manually select who the activity is for (e.g. fill in the ‘Call to’ and ‘Regarding’ fields”): Nowhere else on the form does there seem to be a place to create an activity, and you may ask yourself “Where is the equivalent of my ‘Add’ tab or related entity?” The reason you may be having difficulties is that you may be looking at your old customized form and not seeing the new form in CRM […]

Introduction Access Teams is a new addition in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 that brings along a new way to define privileges and permissions for entities in CRM. Prior to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 (in CRM 2011), security roles were the only means by which privileges were defined for entities. These privileges— Create, Read, Write, Delete, Append, Append To, Assign, Share—were defined in configurations for Security Roles from a User level of access to an Organization level of access. Once security roles had been configured, they were then assigned to various users or teams where the privileges defined in the security roles would get additively applied. Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Discussion Board Color Coding: How-to Guide
Recently we were required to customize the Microsoft SharePoint 2013 discussion board in such a way that discussions and comments posted after a certain date and time would be colored red so as to alert the users of new comments in a discussion.       We decided to implement this functionality through client side scripting. First we had to get our timestamp which would be compared with the timestamps of the discussions and the comments. In our case, our required timestamp was available in a document library, and through SharePoint CSOM JavaScript we were able to retrieve it from this library. Once we had the required timestamp, we developed a script that would color the discussions and comments red if their timestamp, available in the html of the page, was prior to our timestamp.
