When State Auditors Head out of State
State auditors are on the move. While most businesses expect (i.e., dread) to be audited by their home department of revenue, it often comes as a surprise to learn that state tax authorities routinely send auditors to, or hire auditors from, other states to capture unreported sales and use tax revenue. Some states go so far as to have remote offices. For example, the Texas Comptroller has audit offices in Los Angeles, New York City, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. California has field audit offices in Chicago, New York, and Houston. There are Missouri Department of Revenue offices near Chicago, Dallas, and New York, while the Florida Department of Revenue has offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Pittsburg. The Utah State Tax Commission doesn’t specify where all it has sales and use tax auditors but notes that they “spend a majority of their time at taxpayers’ offices […]

SharePoint Pre-Migration Reports You’ll Need for a Successful Migration
SharePoint migration is a transfer of existing content to a newer and up to date SharePoint Environment which can be either On-Premise or Online. There are several checks which need to be performed before any migration to make the migration successful. Why Are Pre-Migration Reports Important? At FMT Consulting, we have successfully completed several SharePoint migrations from legacy systems, file share and older versions to newer SharePoint on premise or SharePoint Online. We made these migrations successful and on time with proper discovery which not only helped us for correct estimates but also helped a lot during migration process for resolving all hurdles on time. Pre-migration reports are also helpful to understand whether you will need a 3rd Party tool for migration or can go with a Content DB migration. Migration Boundaries for SharePoint Online There are some boundaries which you have to take care before any migration assessment: SharePoint ContentDB […]
Has Your Company Truly Adopted Microsoft Dynamics CRM?
Have you ever wondered who in your organization is utilizing your Dynamics CRM application most effectively?  On the other hand, have you ever wondered who is NOT using the system?   If your organization is on Dynamics 365 (online) or Dynamics CRM online, then you have the metrics that you need to target your Power Users and those users that may need additional training.  This is particularly useful information when first implementing a CRM application within the organization and measuring adoption rates.    The Organization Insights dashboard has six charts that provide the metrics that are viewable by three different slices of time from the past i.e. 2 hours, 48 hours or 30 Days. 1.Unique Active Users (chart below shows 2-hour increments) that have performed an operation (e.g. Retrieve, Create, Update) 2. Most Active (unique) Users that performed a Read operation.    This chart shows the top 10 users that […]
How Collaboration and Visibility Lead to Higher-End and Higher-Margin Work
While many businesses are quick to laud the benefits of cloud computing, file-sharing, and data analytics, the fact remains that so many businesses and organizations are unable to take full advantage. Though ERP and cloud solutions are transformative tools to reshape the way you do business, too many companies are still limited--fighting through data silos, hampered by structural confines, or simply hindered by growing pains. “Although the power of analytics is common currency, it’s spoken of far more often than it’s practiced,” according to Edd Wilder-James at the Harvard Business Review. Wilder-James’ quote here can extend beyond just data analytics, but to the transparency and visibility that’s at the core of effective resource planning. Usually, managers don’t simply neglect resource planning, but instead, it stems from a result of simply growing fast, trying to manage the growing tension between scaling internal processes to meet a growing demand. Symptoms Behind Silos […]

Bring Your Appointment Book into the Future: Office 365’s Bookings Service Comes to Facebook
No one likes to play communication tag with their contacts when they’re trying to get things done. That’s why Microsoft developed Bookings, an appointment scheduling service that allows clients to schedule appointments with you, even when you’re not around to answer that email or phone call. What is Bookings? Bookings, a service in the Office 365 suite, provides businesses with customized self-service scheduling. A client is given visibility over the times you’re available to meet with them and they can easily book an appointment via the web page on any device. All bookings can be viewed on a centralized booking calendar that provides visibility across your whole team. Bookings can be easily managed, reassigned, or rescheduled within the calendar, and it even works on mobile. Microsoft even took into account the “schedule and forget” mentality that can happen to us all when we get busy. After an appointment or meeting […]
Take Control of Your Inbox: Learn the Secrets of Clutter in Outlook
Some of you may have noticed a new “inbox” that has been quietly added to the scene of email management. Last year Microsoft introduced a new addition to Outlook referred to as “Clutter.” Clutter is designed to help users focus on the important stuff and serves as a smart filter for your inbox. Let’s take a look at what Clutter is, how Outlook determines what is inbox “clutter,” and how to manage it. So just what is my Clutter inbox? Your clutter inbox is basically a filter that analyzes the way you read your email and hides the things that it determines you’re unlikely to read or respond to. Think of it as a “sub-inbox” for your low priority emails. Well, what’s the difference between this and my junk email? Junk mail is classified as an unsolicited email from senders you’ve never interacted with before, or any messages that may appear […]
